The heart of Proofday is one small ritual: closing the day. It’s deliberately minimal, so it’s easy to keep up every single day.

The daily close

On the Today screen you write a free-text note answering a simple prompt — what you got done, or how today moved you forward. You can optionally tap a mood (1–5). That’s the entire entry.
  • It takes about a minute. There are no other fields, no categories, no forms.
  • Quality is never judged. A quiet day counts exactly as much as a big one. Honesty is the only bar, and only you can see whether you cleared it.
  • The minimum to count: the day is closed with a non-empty note.

Won or missed

Every day gets an honest, binary verdict:

Won

You closed the day with an entry. That’s the win — you showed up.

Missed

A past day went by its cutoff without being closed (and wasn’t a rest day).
A day you haven’t opened yet isn’t “missed” — it’s simply still open until its cutoff passes. And a missed day is never final: you can redeem it within a grace window.

The evening nudge

Most trackers wait passively to be remembered. Proofday actively nudges you to close the day.
  • Gentle by default — one friendly reminder at the time you choose.
  • An intensity dial you own — if you want a firmer push on the days you need it, you can escalate to several evening reminders; you can also turn it all the way down. It’s opt-in, never the default.
  • It stops when you’re done — closing the day cancels any remaining nudges for that evening.
On mobile the nudge is a local notification that works offline; on the web it’s delivered via web push. There’s no email and no server-side pestering.
The nudge is a tool you point at yourself. If you decline notifications entirely, Proofday still works — you just close the day when you open the app.
