WhySoSlow is offline-first. Once you’ve downloaded a region, the map, the speed limits, and the cameras all work with no mobile signal — which is exactly when you don’t want your driving display to stall.

Download a region

On the Drive screen (and in Settings → Map data) you can download, check, and delete offline map packs.

Get the Kyiv & oblast pack

The main pack covers Kyiv and the surrounding oblast — about 112 MB. Download it once, on Wi-Fi, and you’re set.

Add other regions

Other regions are available as separate downloadable packs. Grab the ones you drive in; skip the rest.

Manage storage

You can delete a pack any time to free space and re-download it later.
The map pack is not bundled into the app — you download it on first use — so the app install stays small and you only store the regions you actually drive.

Two update speeds

Map data and camera data change at very different rates, so WhySoSlow updates them separately:
  • Map tiles and speed limits change slowly. Region packs are regenerated occasionally and you update them on demand.
  • Cameras change often. The camera list is small and refreshes automatically whenever the app is online (at most once a day).
Each layer shows a “data as of” date so you always know how fresh it is.
