# The Drive screen

> The heads-up display: your speed, the limit in force, colour-coded alerts, and the follow-map.

The **Drive** screen is the whole point of WhySoSlow. Tap **Start** to begin a session and **Stop**
to end it. There are no destinations and nothing to tap while you're moving — you glance, you know,
you drive.

## Your speed and the limit, side by side

The display shows two things next to each other:

* **Your current speed**, in km/h, straight from GPS.
* **The limit in force** as a road-sign roundel — the posted limit for the road you're on, taken
  from map data and your own edits.

Near a camera, the roundel switches to the **camera's own enforced limit** and shows a small camera
badge. If a camera's enforced limit isn't published, the roundel keeps showing the posted limit with
the badge.

## Colour tells you where you stand

Your speed number changes colour so you never have to do the maths:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Under the limit — calm">
    At or below the posted limit, your speed reads in the normal colour. Nothing beeps.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Over the limit — amber">
    The moment you're over the **posted** limit, your speed turns **amber**. This is information, not
    an alarm — there's no sound.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fineable — red">
    Once you cross Ukraine's **+20 km/h** line — where a fine actually becomes possible — your speed
    turns **red** with a single, short beep. One beep on crossing, never a nagging loop.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Ukraine only fines speeding at **more than +20 km/h** over the limit. WhySoSlow keys its red alert
  to that fineable line by default, so it warns you when it matters instead of nagging at every
  +1 km/h.
</Note>

## Settings you can tune

In **Settings → Driving**:

* **Warn above limit by** — the threshold for the red, fineable alert. The default is **+20 km/h**;
  set it lower (down to every km/h over) if you want an earlier warning.
* **Alert sound** — the tone used for alerts. Camera warnings and overspeed use **distinct** sounds
  so you can tell them apart without looking.

## The map

The map is a **follow-map**: it tracks your position and heading and keeps the road you're on lit up.
It **auto-switches between day and night** for a high-contrast, glanceable display, and stays awake
while a session is running. You can recenter and zoom, but you never need to — it's built to be read
at a glance, not operated.
