# Account & privacy

> One free account across your devices, what WhySoSlow stores, and the permissions it needs.

## One free account

WhySoSlow uses a single **free burakov account** (email, Google, or Apple) that works across all your
apps and devices. **Signing in is required** — it's what lets your personal edits sync between your
phones and powers the optional AI advisor. There are **no subscriptions** and nothing to buy.

## What's stored

* **Your personal layer** — the limits you fix and the markers you drop — is stored on your account
  and **synced** to the burakov server so it's there on every device. It is **not** end-to-end
  encrypted, because syncing needs to read it.
* **AI advisor photos** (only if you turn the advisor on) are **kept on the server** so suggestions
  can be produced; your device **deletes its copies after upload**.
* **The map, limits, and camera data** live **offline on your device** as downloaded packs.

## Permissions it asks for

    the app is open and on screen** — there is **no background or always-on location**.

    never uses the camera.
