# Recording

> Optional audio recording — everyone is told, nothing is silent.

A host can record a meeting's **audio** — every participant, Kai included, mixed into one file.
Recording is always off until the host starts it, and it's never silent: the moment it starts,
**every participant sees a "This meeting is being recorded" banner**, guests included.

## Record a meeting

    In the room header, the host presses **Record**. Semble shows what will happen and what it
    costs before anything starts.

    **Start recording** begins capturing audio, and the recording banner appears for everyone.

  <Step title="Stop">
    Press **Stop recording** — or just end the meeting; the recording finishes on its own once
    everyone has left and the room closes.

## Download or delete

The meeting's page lists its recordings with their length and size. **Download** saves the
audio as an `.ogg` file; **Delete** removes it permanently from storage.

## Cost and refunds

Each recording costs a flat **5 credits**, charged when it starts. If a recording fails and no
usable file is produced, those credits go back to your wallet automatically.

  Recording laws differ by place. Semble always tells everyone in the room when recording is on,
  but you're responsible for any additional consent your local law requires.
